A edición de Seara para 2025 abrangue obras de tres autores de Lugo: Ánxel Fole, Marica Campo e Xela Arias, por orde do ano de nacemento. O lugar natal que partillan, a provincia de Lugo, non quere dicir que citen claramente a súa orixe na súa obra, malia teren algo máis en común os contos de Fole e Campo. A poesía de Arias, dende logo, revela unha ligazón coa cidade e co mundo urbano, moderno; en troques os dous primeiros tenden a emprazar as narracións na serra lucense e a poboalas de motivos que veñen representar a cultural rural. Arias escribe dende a experiencia íntima, persoal, a de Vigo, malia non citar o nome da cidade nos seus versos.
Porén, as tres obras da escolma para 2025 representan unha admiración das persoas autoras nestas traducións polo estilo, polos tres estilos, e polo que representan de escrita xa clásica dentro da literatura galega. Son mostras da creatividade seica máis fotográfica da vida rural coa tamén actitude retranqueira (Fole), das pescudas na mentalidade e sensibilidade do interior xeogáfico-humano (Campo), da procura dunha ligazón real coa contorna que ás veces asombra co excesivo urbanismo e aínda así non deixa de amar esa mesma contorna.
Agardemos que as traducións sexan, outra vez máis, unha nova lente para as persoas sabedoras do inglés, unha porta para coñeceren a ampla creatividade, os moitos temas (e teimas) da literatura galega, e que deste xeito, abran outro aspecto do mundo que atopamos na escrita que se fixo - e se fai - nunha lingua que non deixa de asombrar, de abraiar, ollos e corazón moito máis aló do seu país de orixe.
The 2025 edition of Seara includes works from three authors born in the province of Lugo: Ánxel Fole, Marica Campo e Xela Arias, by order of birth. The birthplace they share, the province of Lugo, doesn’t mean they make clear reference to their origin in their work, despite the stories of Fole and Campo having so much more in common. Arias’ poetry obviously reveals ties to the city, to the modern urban environment; on the other hand, the first two tend to set their narratives in the highlands of Lugo and to populate them with motifs that represent rural culture. Arias writes from personal, intimate experience in the coastal city of Vigo, although she doesn’t mention the city’s name in her verses.
Thus, the three authors of the selection for 2025 represent an admiration for the authors in these translations, for their styles, their three styles, and for the way they represent writing that is classic within Galician literature. They are examples of the perhaps more photographic creativity combined with the particularly Galician humor (Fole), the interrogations of the mentality and sensitivity of the geographical and human interior (Campo), of the search for a real connection with the surroundings that sometimes astound with an excessive urban identity and yet doesn’t cease to love that environment.
We hope that these translations will once again be a lens for English speakers, a door for them to learn of the far-reaching creativity, the many themes (and fixations) of Galician Literature and that, in this manner they will reveal another aspect of the world we find in the writing that was done - and is still being done - in a language that still astonishes, still amazes eyes and hearts far beyond its country of origin.
